It's Ok!

I'm linking up with Neely today for It's Ok Thursday...Here we go!

Its Ok Thursdays

·        That I was mad at the Thunder last night forbeing down 18 in the first half – they came back with a vengence and are theWestern Conference Champs!  Thunder up!  On to the Finals!
·        That I was ready to tear into one of my husband’scoworkers this week for starting drama at his job…I kept it to myself anddidn’t respond to her childish Facebook posts.
·        That I am willing to pay pretty much any priceto buy tickets to the Finals when they’re in OKC – I probably won’t wind updoing it, but I sure want to!
·        That I paid for pain medicine for my puppy thathurt his foot.  He can barely walk on it and I would want it if I werehurting.
·        That sometimes (ok, a lot of the time) I wishthat my husband and I would win the lottery and never have to work again! I guess if I really want that to happen I would have to actually buy a ticket!
And mostly, it’s ok that I haven’tdone much blogging this week, I’ve been too busy with other stuff!

Thunder Up!!

I am dedicating this post to the OKC Thunder! First of all, let me just say that I am no bandwagon fan! I have been rooting for the OKC boys since they moved here from Seattle. As a huge sports fan, I am tickled pink to actually have a professional team from Oklahoma to root for. I think it’s evident from listening to the announcers from every OKC game that the Oklahoma Fans are the loudest and proudest in the league and that makes my heart happy! We take pride in our state and in our team.

Watching the Round 4 playoff game Saturday night was awesome. To watch my fave player Serge Ibaka have a perfect shooting record was amazing. Durant was on fire, Perkins was showing us what was up and Collison showed us all that white boys CAN jump! My favorite part was to watch the excitement on the faces of each player as they knew the game was coming to a close and we were going to win.

Now they have to gear up for Game 5 in San Antonio tonight. They HAVE to win this one, and I know they can. I will be watching, sporting my Thunder gear, glued to the screen tonight and crossing my fingers they can pull this one off! I love me some Thunder and I would LOVE to see them win the series and then take on either the Heat or the Celtics – because I’m pretty sure they can beat either team and become Champions!

I know this isn’t the typical girly, makeup and fashion type blog, but it’s me and I want to keep it real!

LET’S GO THUNDER!

A Bit of Advice from An Old Married Lady

Nick and I have been married almost 2 years (July 31) but we dated for about 5 years before that. I know that’s not a lifetime or anything, but I feel like we’ve learned a lot along the way. I know not to try and have a conversation with him as soon as he wakes up and he knows that I get so stressed out when I don’t have correct directions when I’m driving and I tend to yell about it. I know that I should always keep the fridge stocked with milk and keep cereal in the pantry and he knows how to cook a steak EXACTLY how I like it ( a little pink in the middle but no blood AT ALL!) We learn more about each other every day and I hope that never stops!

A little background on our relationship – We grew up in the same town, the same middle school, the same high school. He was good friends with my next door neighbor, he “dated” one of my friends in 7th grade, but Nick and I were never even what one would consider friends. We knew of each other and that’s about it. Fast forward to the summer after I graduated college. Nick started coming to my church with his friend and playing softball with our church league team. I knew from the first time we talked that I really liked this guy and wanted to get to know him better. He had just gotten out of a long relationship so we started off just friends and hung out in groups, mostly church friends. One day though he asked me out to lunch and that’s how it all started – a bbq lunch at a hometown favorite restaurant and the rest is history!

All that being said, from the day I met Nick I learned about all of his hobbies. He is the most active person I know; hunting, fishing, boating, playing, and everything in between. Sometimes I join him, sometimes I don’t. I don’t always like to spend my weekends sporting camouflage head-to-toe and sitting in a tree – Crazy I know! I will go out with him every now and then because it is a good time to bond with my husband doing something he loves – his excitement can be contagious!

That being said, I would NEVER, EVER ask him to not hunt or fish for my sake. I have never been one to make him choose between me and his hobbies, I have always thought that if you feel like you need to change things about the person you’re with – they’re probably not the right person for you. When you start making that person feel guilty for doing the things that they love instead of spending every second with you – that’s when you start to lose them. There are times of the year (deer hunting season specifically) that I know I will see less of Nick on the weekends, I choose to look at those as opportunities to do the things that I love to do that he doesn’t – seeing chick flicks, spa days, read a good book, spend time with friends – not sit around moping because he’s gone. I don’t ever want to make him feel guilty for following his passions.

It has been said a million times that you can NOT change a person, and I don’t know why you would want to change someone you love. You fell in love with that person for who they are – and all the things that make them that way. Don’t try to change them…all it will do is make them resent you and make your relationship rocky at best.

These are my confessions...

I have been reading Leslie's blog for a while now and thought it would be fun to do yet another link up and join her in confessing today...

I confess:
· That I have eaten leftovers for dinner the past two nights because I have NO motivation to cook anything.
· That I have been stretching this manicure for almost three weeks, I know its time to remove the polish, but I just don’t want to!
· That I was a “blog stalker” for a while and read a lot of different blogs religiously, but did it anonymously! (I’m here now and proudly posing my link-ups and comments!)
· That I may or may not have procrastinated doing the laundry for so long last weekend that I had to finish a load Tuesday at lunch time so the hubs would have scrubs to wear to work when he left at 1:30! (Long, holiday/birthday weekends are a good excuse right?!)
· That I am two months away from our 2nd anniversary and I still get giddy whenever I call Nick “my husband.”

It's Ok Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

I'm linking up for "It's OK Thursday" again today!

It is OK:

• That I am insanely jealous of Neely's trip to NYC, it's been too long since I have been.
• That I may have fallen in love with maxi dresses when I used to be adamantly against them, who knew they would be so comfortable!
• That I hit the snooze button too many times this morning and am therefore rocking the ponytail today because I didn't have time to flat iron!
• To spend $35 on a kiddie pool for your puppies, it's hot already and the cheap ones were too small!
• To fantasize about a day to spend doing absolutely nothing...can't remember the last time we've had one of those.
• To be extremely picky about buying a new couch. I know what I want in my mind, I just need to find one in real life! And I don't want to buy one until I do!
• To be scared I'm going to kill the orchid my co-worker bought me for my birthday. Any tips from a green thumb type would be welcomed!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday...

It's Wednesday again, so I decided to link up with Jamie again for "What I'm Loving Wednesday!"

This week I am loving:

  • That I have another short work week thanks to Memorial Day
  • My new Coach watch my hubby got me for my birthday!

  • My new business cards - MBA!!
  • That its officially summer and that means our in-law's swimming pool is open for business and I plan to spend lots of time there this summer
  • That I have a husband that is always ready to listen to me rant and complain, even if it's for stupid reasons.  He also will remind me that the reasons are stupid and that I have so much to be thankful for.
  • The OKC Thunder!  Even though they're struggling a little right now, I am so happy we have a professional team from Oklahoma that we can cheer for!  And, they all just seem like good guys and people worth rooting for!

Long Weekend Update

We had a fantastic weekend at the Jenkins house!

Friday, Nick and I were both off work so we slept in and then headed to Tulsa to do a little lunch and shopping.  We ate at Olive Garden and it was delicious!  That night we just chilled at home and didn't do too much - it was nice.

Saturday Nick left super early with my Dad to go play some paintball.  I woke up early too and cleaned the house a little bit and then headed to Broken Arrow for my first ever spa day.  It was fabulous!  I started with a salt scrub and a facial, then had an aromatherapy wrap and an hour long massage.  Then I ended the day with a pedicure and a wash and blow-out.  It was the best 4 hours ever for relaxation!  After my day of pampering I headed home to meet up with Nick and then head to my first birthday party.  My family met us at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then came back to our house for cake and ice cream.  It was a lot of fun and I was blessed with lots of great gifts including 4 pairs of shoes (so me!) and an amazing Coach watch from my sweet, sweet hubby!

Sunday we went out to the lake for a Memorial Day/ Birthday celebration with Nick's family.  My brother-in-law's birthday is the 28th too so we always have a little joint celebration.  The lake was lots of fun in the sun and good food!

Yesterday (my actual birthday) Nick and I woke up early and headed out on the boat for some fishing (for him) and tanning (for me).  After that we headed to his parent's house for a yummy lunch and some pool time.  It was a lot of fun and my parents and sister and bro-in-law came over too.  It was the perfect way to spend my birthday!  That night we went to my bro-in-law's house for his birthday party cook-out.  Then Nick and I went home to chill for a little while before we had to gear up for another week of work - at least it's a short one.

The weekends always go to fast, especially when you stay as busy as we do - but I wouldn't change a minute of it!

29...Seriously?

How did this happen? I am 29 years old today. There is no way I'm almost thirty.

It hit me last night watching the OKC Thunder play. I don't feel like I should be so much older than those guys playing on tv. Sadly though, I'm about 7 years older than a lot of them! Yikes!

Oh well, here's to long weekends, birthday cake, and aging gracefully (with the help of spa visits and hair dye)!

A Day Off...

I sit here typing this morning super happy because I have the day off work. I usually take a vacation day before a holiday to give myself an extra long weekend! I have no idea what today holds except spending time with my hubby. Perhaps a little fishing, maybe some shopping, dinner with friends? Low key is how we roll, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I'm most excited for tomorrow, in all my (almost) 29 years I have never had a "spa day". Massages here and there and some mani/pedis are about it. But tomorrow I will be spending 4 hours getting primped and pampered as a graduation gift to myself and I am pumped!! After my day of relaxation we'll be getting together with my family to celebrate my birthday! Should be an awesome day and an awesome weekend! Now if I could just get Nick to wake up so we could get it started!!

It's OK Thursday...

I've been reading Neely's blog for a while and thought it would be fun to join in on It's Ok this week for the first time. Here it goes:

It's Ok:
  • To still get excited for your birthday even when you're almost 30!
  • To know that you're almost 30 in your head but still be completely shocked when things remind you about it - like having a kid I used to watch at Day Camp graduate college the same day I get my Master's - wake up call!
  • To spoil your puppies because they're the only "kids" you have.
  • To always have a mental countdown til vacation days (or any day off work -that's what keeps me sane!)
  • To be overly excited that the Thunder is headed to round 3 of the playoffs but also be terrified of the Spurs!
  • To still be a little disappointed that my two fave OSU players are going to NFL teams that I care NOTHING about...I'll still be watching though Blackmon and Weeden!!
  • To be a little nervous about joining the "blog world" but jump in with both feet any way!
  • That my hubby is officially more obsessed with my new Roomba than I am...his new favorite line is, "don't worry about it - I'll vacuum!"

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Since I'm relatively new to the blog world and find it hard to come up with things to write about, a link up should be fun & easy so, here's what I'm loving today:

• That today is my Thursday which means tomorrow is my Friday!

• That my birthday is right around the corner (Monday) and I have that day off too! Gotta love working for a bank!

• My Roomba, that thing is absolutely sent from Heaven for a girl with two puppies and wood floors that show EVERYTHING!!

• Lazy days with my hubby (hope to fit that in this weekend)

• Reading for fun. Now that school is done I can do that again - fun book suggestions are welcome!

• Any and all things Coach - hoping for a gift from the Coach store for my birthday!

Starting Over...

I started this blog a few years ago and really only posted a few times. I've been lurking on a few different blogs lately and I decided that I'd really like to start over on mine and actually devote some time and energy to it. I have a lot of free time on my hands these days because I FINALLY finished my MBA! I graduated on May 12 from Northeastern State University and I'm so glad that stretch of my life is over! No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks - to steal a phrase from the ever insightful Alice Cooper. It was not easy by any means, but I feel very accomplished to have it finished.
So, a little about me.  I am twenty-something (at least for one more year) Okie from Muskogee.  I have been married to my amazing husband Nick for almost two years and we have the BEST time together - he is my best friend and I can't imagine life without him.  He's an outdoorsman in every sense of the word... if there is something to hunt, fish, catch, or kill...he's there!  I tag along with him every now and then and although it's not always my thing - I just love spending time with him doing what he loves.

We bought our home a few months before we got married and it is a constant project for us.  So far we've completely changed the kitchen and added wood flooring throughout the living room, dining room, and kitchen (both very trying projects) but the house is coming together and becoming exactly what we envisioned when we bought it.
We have two puppies, a male, yellow lab named Bucky and a black, female lab named Remy.  They are the only children we have for now, but we plan to add to that in the future.  They are a handful, but we love every minute of it!  (Pictured with our super cute nephew who was helping Bucky deal with his dislike of loud noises!)

My family is everything to me and I am blessed beyond belief with awesome parents and a lovely sister and brother in law.  We always have fun when we're together and I know they'll always be here for us no matter what...

I am a HUGE sports fan...I love my OSU Cowboys football, Dallas Cowboys, and of course the Oklahoma City Thunder!  Anytime any of those teams are playing - I am watching...and if I can't watch, I will find it on the radio and listen!

So, that's my life in a nutshell.  I am a very lucky gal who wants to make the most of life and all it has to offer.  Let's see where this blogging thing goes - I really just want a way to record all the awesome things God has in store for my life!
